The gameplay was great, really fun despite being very simple. It's fun picking up all of those passive skills and seeing your character and Marigold become super powerful. I also liked the music and the theme was implemented perfectly, as well as the two bonus challenges you chose to implement.
Have to say though, the sacred orbs seemed pretty useless. And there's three type of sacred orb skills with four levels, so it's a lot of investment for almost no gain. Even when you have all the orb skills, they either rarely hit anything or just push one enemy away each "at best" and at that point there's literal swarms going after you. They need to be buffed somewhat.
Marigold's HP also keeps regenerating even when the game is paused during ability selection, so you can just wait until she gets healed to full. I don't think that's intended, And if it is, maybe have her just regain a portion of HP instantly instead of regeneration it normally.
If you want to work on this further, maybe you could add a "Story Mode" that adds some kind of boss fight at round 150 and an ending when you defeat the boss.
Also, some kind of super-ability that only gets unlocked when you max out everything else would be kinda cool.
Also, one question, what did the Absorption Ability skill do? Did it push monsters away, since the icon seemed to be a magnet?
Anyway, great game, by far the most fun gameplay out of all the ones I've played from this game jam! I'd definitely play an expanded version of this, a sequel or another game with a similar concept.
We appreciate you playing our game! I do agree, the sacred orbs could be more powerful or at least more frequent, and the HP regeneration is a bug we found late in the game, certainly something to fix on a future update.
Also don't really have a sequel planned in the recent future but those are definitely some good ideas we could implement.
The absortion passive makes it easier to pick up EXP from longer distances.
If you'd like a game similar to this i recommend checking out Vampire Survivors, we took a lot of ideas from that game as well.
Thank you for the kind words and the valid criticism, and thank you for hosting this game jam, it was certainly a nice challenge for us.
I loved this one! This might actually be the best game in this jam!
That was really entertaining to watch! Thanks a lot for playing our game and for the kind words!
For sure, I loved this one!

I really enjoyed this a lot! There was a nice variety of different enemies, and the choice of power-ups each time was engaging.
The music was perfect, and the sense of growing futility was genuinely moving.
Thank you for playing and the feedback!
Thanks a lot for trying our game!
This is a well done game! I really like the graphics and music! The concept is simple and in keeping with the chosen theme. And there are a lot of upgrades to win along the way.
I suppose the controls need a bit of work. For one thing, being left handed, I prefer to use the arrow keys. I’m assuming it wouldn’t have been hard to support both WASD and arrows at the same time. And sometimes the character got stuck on something but I couldn’t tell what it was. And the star above Marigold obscures the view. It’s a nice art idea, but blocking the view like this isn’t the best. Maybe fade the image out whenever something is behind it.
Our game isn’t as hopeful as yours. It’s about a zombie apocalypse. I know. I know. Cliche. But if you would give it a try and let us know what you liked and what you didn’t, that would help us become better game developers! Thanks!
Thank you for playing!
And thanks for the criticism, I agree the star above Marigold shouldn't obscure an enemy when one is behind it. Things to fix after the jam
Thank you for letting us know what you thought, we appreciate the feedback.
