Fun and hard. I believe the most interesting thing in here is the touch of strategy in letting wasps steal points or not. That scores pretty high in cool concept.
And when I say hard, it's NES levels of hard. There's little room for mistakes but I still managed to beat the game (yea I did not expect that this was not an endless game) - so I want to show what it looks like to my fallen comrades in the comments below.
It's really fun to see Jams get submissions that can run on real hardware of the system that they are meant to be!
I'd give this the "Liquid Crack" trophy.
Very fun game. Though i wish there was a way to gain more lives or a continue system cuz i held out until wave 12 and wanted to see what the rest of the game has to offer, and i dont think i can replay the whole game to that point sorry d;. The controls are a bit strange, would've preferred if z to shoot and shift to strafe instead of s and x so they would be easier on the fingers. Still liked it a lot though.
Nice. Played till I got 1 Million. The rush of barely grazing bullets was fantastic. Can't wait to play this on real hardware.
It's awesome that this really feels like a retro game! Since you made a ROM for it, I suppose it really is. Great stuff! One thing that would be really nice would be if strafing was a toggle instead of holding the key. It would make it a lot easier on the fingers.
Love the vibe of this! Shocked that you made a whole rom during the jam
Great entry! I absolutely loved the aesthetic! And gameplay! It's an excellent execution on the retro aesthetic.
Keyboard control wise, I would have preferred the shift key to have been used for strafe. Holding X while pressing S was a bit of a finger tangle for me.
