Theme

Ice Cream Town

Correlation to theme
I used very icy instruments but in a soft way, remembering the softness of the ice cream. Also here is what the town sign says at the entrance: Welcome to Creamea, a spot for novice ice cream adventurers to rest before a great adventure! You can visit the various shop like the weapon store where Choka the chocolate scoop forge her finest deadly swords, or even the hot bath of Traby the strawberry scoop. Anyway the most important: don't forget to save at the inn!

Hey TheSnowly! Nice to see that you yourself are joining the jam as well :)

INT: Really great! I love the marimba at the start, and the transition at 0:20 to the main melody! It is soft and gentle, as is expect with a snowy theme, and has a nice melody. It feels perfectly as how I would expect a snowy town to feel like. Perfect!

ADVENTURE: I consider this a nice bonus. Love the pan-flute, I used that as well! It feels nicely like going on an snowy adventure just after leaving the city. I think you did an amazing job with these songs!

TheSnowly! This was a planned theme for your name!

Superb composition.

There have already been many nice reviews, and I risk being redundant.

The use of the mallet (kalimba? marimba?) to illustrate the cold is very counterintuitive and yet it sounds so good.

The level of this jam is particularly high!

Lovely songs! The first one I had the impression it had a bit too much energy for a town theme, mainly because of the fast notes. The second one nails the inn vibe very well, good job!

I love how on the second song the fast alternance of the two notes on a ternary rythm (with the kind of kalimba?) resonates like "glaglagla.." you know, like when you're cold and your jaws shakes. And then the melody line comes and warm you up. Amazing..

Really liked your compositions!!

Very pretty song, I really liked how well connected the two songs were, like, you can easily imagine the two songs switching in between each other in an actual game, and that's hard to do!

The instruments, like the marimbas, being able to sound both cold and warm was really cool too, it really fit the theme perfectly!

The intro harp fall is a great way to instantly set the stage in a fraction of a second and to introduce the overall feel of your icy, creamy village. I think your use of marimba is what sets the stage for ice cream in the town for me as it is staccato which makes it feel icy, but it has warm tones compared to other mallet and pitched percussion instruments which add the creamy texture to your composition. Both the exterior and interior themes are very well done and deserve to be in a real ice cream video game village! Great work and thank you for sharing!

Effective use of marimba and complex chords in illustrating the snowy town atmosphere!

I love your song 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
