Love the gameboy aesthetic and sounds! I could see it being a nice, calming fishing game! Awesome job!
I am so very amazed by the graphics of this game. The animation is amazing, the typesetting is great, and the splash at the end (not gonna spoil it!) captures the aesthetic of the original source so very well, yet it is clearly your own creation. The game is fun and I enjoyed playing it.
The main critique I have for this game is that the twist is pretty lame. You did get me to investigate the source material in question, which I will be enjoying soon! It feels like you had an idea for a game and then added a twist to make it fit within the jam.
The visuals are so ... wow! 🤩 You reduced the gameplay to what it only needed to be, perfect for such a jam! Very good entry 😁
Nice pixel art and sound effects. The gameplay was a little frustrating since it took so many tries to catch the big one. Wish there was a way to gauge the size of the fish on the line. Might be fun to show all the fish you have caught so far next to the fisherman or in the result screen.

Oh, that's a good idea. Some kind of special animation for when the big fish is on the line would be a good addition.

Yes I thought about that after hitting the time limit. Some visual indication of progression would have mitigate the frustration waiting for the big fish.
