Love the premise of escaping from hell by climbing up a ladder with obstacles. I think a quicker moving speed would make it more fun and challenging. Maybe it could get progressively faster or have a speed option chosen by the player...? The visuals did a good job of portraying hell in a pixelated environment. The climbing animation is smooth as well. Oh and the height count/score after you die was a nice touch! Would be nice to see some audio if you do anything else with it.

The gameplay suffers for how slowly things crawl along. I found my attention wandering while I was waiting for a broken rung to appear on screen. Your art reads well and has some nice detail to it, and I like how you animated your character. It's simple, efficient, and conveys what it needs to perfectly. Congratulations on putting together a finished game in 3 hours!

Cute character.  Might just be my machine but it seems to run very slow and therefore a bit too easy.  Great effort

yeah, it speeds up a bit after 50, but i ran out of time in the middle of balancing the speed lol
