Really liked the humor.  I couldn't solve it but I had fun trying.

Developer

oh, good! Sorry you couldn't solve it. I'll work on giving stronger hints next time.

Really nice audio, it fit the game well :) I found it a bit too hard though, and couldn't figure out the puzzle, what was the meaning behind left/down/right/up ? I was trying to recall the heights of the wisps but I was only really considering up and down and wasn't sure where left/right came in - I want to give it another try though once I understand!

Developer

Sure! Choose the top door if you went up in the maze, and the bottom door if you went down or to the right. I guess I didn't actually have a "left" in the wisp maze. Sorry to make it misleading!

Ohhh I see - thanks! (completed it now ;) still pretty tricky but I like the narrative going on!) and I'll check them out, thanks for the link

I'm sure he appreciates it too! He made an entire track for a game we never finished, and I asked him permission to use songs from it for my work.

Music is really well chosen and unimposing, fits the overall ambience of the game. The blue guy is interesting and quirky, writing is good. The puzzle, however, is too hard.  Spent the most time on your game out of this jam & couldn't solve it. Hope to see you in the next jam. :)

Thanks! Yeah, sorry the puzzle is so hard. I recommend using a pen and paper for this one. The wife had the same problem. Tried to make some last minute changes to help with this, but I guess it didn't work as well as I would have liked XD

For me the theme didn't really fit. I only read in the game's description what you had in mind, but it didn't feel fast in any way. To be honest I didn't play it through because I got bored in the second stage at door 8 or so. The character moved really slow, and at each level of that stage you have to check the sign to see if your last guess was correct or not. At least I didn't see any other way than guessing.

Developer

Fair enough. Thanks for playing.

1) "It didn't fit the theme in any way"
- The theme was left open for interpretation. The game requires you to re-play the two phases of the game; making solving the puzzles steadily faster. It is a bit abstract, I'll admit.
2) "The character moved really slow"
- I didn't account for speed optimization when deciding between the two doors. I felt it important for the narrative to read each of the signs. I think in the future I can definitely speed up the character to make the redundancy less grueling, but my 3 hours was focused more on making the game playable then in optimizing the fine details.
3) "I didn't see any other way than guessing"
- Sign 1 and Sign 2 are meant to encourage the player to go back to the maze to determine how to progress at the doors. I'm sorry this wasn't more obvious. In the future, perhaps I can put a text-tip above the first door that says "to the maze" or "to the wisps".
