Not scary at all, but I suppose that wasn't really the goal here. It was short, sweet and kinda fun to play - the 1$ emerald was a funny slap in the face lol

Developer

Yeah, at some point I just had a specific simple game concept in mind and just went for that while forgetting about the horror theme, haha.

The emerald was a small joke reference to the green Zelda rupee.

This is my favorite from the jam solely because nothing is more scary than student loan debt.

Great gameplay, it first feels a bit clunky, but as soon as I got the hang of it, I really liked it. Also the ending was scary - at first. ;)

Thanks for the comment! My intention was  to mimic the inertia from having to slow down or change direction underwater, hoping to make the hazards and enemies feel a little more dangerous that way.

The real friends are the scary fish we... no, the real treasure we found... uh, something like that.

This was really fun! Also gotta get that student loan debt down!!! Really great use of the theme at the bottom too! I thought I would have to go back up to the top to deliver the goods. I also thought that the health bar was the air meter or something so I was speedrunning it until I hit one of the thorns and realized it was my HP.

Developer

Thanks for trying the game!

Both the air meter and having to go back up were ideas I was considering, but didn't have time to add unfortunately. Might be fun if you encounter new hazards/enemies on the way back up.
