I like the music and graphics but controls feel too slippery. If you want a really challenging platformer then controls must be in your favor. Here after i dealt with those short platforms i was greeted by raising flowers and bang to the beggining. I suggest watching GMTK's video about Celeste design it might give u really good background to how to make controls feel good. Saying that i had pleasure trying to finish this game.
thanks for your feedback and trying out the game!
As said before, more work is needed on the jumps. The music is nice.
Sometimes when game developers spend a lot of time on their game they get used to it and to the mechanics they created. It makes their game feel too easy.
I would suggest to try let friends play test for you. thanks for sharing :)
Thanks for your feedback! I wanted to do that but because it is my first jam and first time making a platformer it was difficult to make everything and play test it in 48 hours. Thanks for playing!
The high difficulty and "special" movement may be intended, but it's not good, sorry. If you need 20 tries to get over the first tree, which kills you if you don't, and when you finally made it you die at the next obstacle and have to start over again at the beginning - that's frustrating.
thanks for your feedback! I understand it. I wanted to make some extra levels beginning from easy to very difficult but I didn't have much time so I decided to do it this way. But I agree that it is frustrating. Did you manage to complete it?
No, sorry. I got over the tree one time, then died and didn't get it anymore :(
It was a funny idea to make the jump button 2. Your game is very VERY in the theme of two I must admit.
The main problem I was having with the game is that the movement is pretty inconsistent.
All in all, good job fellow beginner!
Hey, thanks for your feedback. Which aspect of the movement is inconsistent?
and do you think that making it too much in the theme of 2 is a little exaggerating?
I didn't like the fact that you couldn't control the character well while jumping. Since the level you made had some precise platforming and made you restart the level upon failure it was frustrating to have to figure out exactly how far the jump + right input made the character go for every jump. Jumping straight up feels really bad when its difficult to move left or right because there is no jump in between fully going to the left or right, and just going straight up. I hope that makes sense.
I don't think leaning into the theme is a bad idea and I thought it was charming.
Yeah I made it like this to add an extra difficulty level. While you are in air you must keep clicking on A and D to see a result. That gives an extra layer that while you are in air you have to think how many times you have to click on A or D. Thanks for your feedback! one last question: did you manage to complete the level?
I see. I didn't completely understand that when I first played. I gave it another shot today and got to about the section with the moving platform but I kept sliding off it because I wasn't skilled enough to clear that section.
