Hi Original! I'm a game design student and fell in love with the idea of the game! I want to try making something similar to practice for class, but have no idea where to start! Is there any chance I could poke you on discord to try and question a thing or two about the dev process?

Developer

yeah sure, my discord is OriginalStone8 aswell

It was a very interesting and well polished idea! The visuals were really nice, the audio design was very low-key and pleasing, and overall was very cool! I'm quite an idiot so I had a real hard time getting past the puzzles, but it was quite interesting to figure them out. Great job!

Cool game! I really like the main puzzle concept,  and the additional mechanics like tiles that spawn more followers. The sound and graphics are all great too, and I like the interpretation that the followers follow your actions (with their own twist) rather than your position!

I do think the level designs could be a bit more interesting: the merging mechanics feel like they have good puzzle potential, but you can win most of the levels by taking the shortest path to the flag, then moving backwards and forwards a little to force followers into spikes (or each other) until you have the right amount. The levels without an excess of followers, such as Level 5, avoided this issue and were the most fun to solve!

The input handling could also do with some polish, because moving twice fast can desync the followers from their intended positions, or even teleport you about (try pressing right twice at the start of Level 8). There are some other problems too, like being able to move well before a level loads, and after you die or complete it. And if you press two directions at the same time, then the followers move in a different direction from the leader...

Overall though, I did really enjoy it! I'd love to see more of this game, especially with more puzzles like Level 5 that have tighter solutions :)

Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it. Also I know the level design is a bit easy, that’s because it is a game jam and I wanted people to be able to experience the game, even if they aren’t good at solving puzzles. And about the issues with the movement, about most of them i already knew but i just didn't have enough time to change the whole movement logic. But I will most definitely try to fix those issues after the jam ends.

That all makes perfect sense! Best of luck with any improvements to the game, and I've just followed you on Itch to keep an eye out for updates :>

I really like the game and level design! The music is quite relaxing and the mechanics are very well polished! The visuals are also awesome with very bright shaders and also cubes signifying the numbers. The interpretation of the theme is quite interesting instead of it following the leader it follows the movements which makes for some interesting dynamics. The audio design is also really good and seems very polished. My only complaints are that for some reason, I can't see the UI that was displaying how much follower I need so it can get a bit confusing to play at times and also the 4 looks like a 9 xD. Overall, really good game and great job!!

I had no idea about the problem with the UI but the 4 was just a problem with the font and I couldn’t find a better one

Yea I'm not sure if its just me or someone else experiences it but the UI in my screen is just blank, I can see there's a background for it but there was no text or numbers or anything during the levels

I'll try to check it, but for me it works just fine on the editor and on itch. maybe your viewing it on a small screen resolution?

I was on full screen! Idk I have footage on it on the community post if that would help!
