What is the most interesting interval in your leitmotif/theme?
I like the diminished second of the trumpets at 0:16 the most. I like the dissonance, it creates a nice bit of tension and I think it sounds lovely :)

This is quite literally amazing. I got the shivers down my spine, only downside is that its onky 27' and not longer. 10/10 will listen on repean & waiting for full version
Release the Crowssss
The combination of instruments gives this entry such a smoky and apocalyptic atmosphere. The half-steps sound devious in a heavy and oppressive manner, and yet the trumpet and bells provide a clarity which increases its scope and makes it soar. The sword sound effects and that warped twangy thing were very well-placed. It all felt deliciously evil.
Thanks for the nice comment. I'm glad you like my composition :)
Nice! I like how this piece seems to encompass a lot of conflicting emotions -- it has the darkness of a villain theme, but it's also rather pensive and even defiant/hopeful in places. That's a lot to cover in a short theme! Also, the sword sound effect was a fun addition that helped set the tone.
In terms of references that are coming to mind, I'm definitely getting some "Lux Aeterna" (Clint Mansell & Kronos Quartet) vibes with the bass/cello part. The opening also reminds me a bit of music from some '70s era martial arts movies. I know neither of these were probably intentional on your part, but I think it speaks to the strength of the piece that it seems to be so many things all at once. Good work!
Hey thanks for the kind words :) I'm glad you like the emotions my theme evokes. As well as the sword sound, I've always wanted to make a piece with this effect and I like how it fits.
I did indeed not intend for either of these references. But it's cool that my piece reminds you of these different things :)
Nice, iconic Kronos is a great listen anytime, esp. now that this put me in the mood.
The knife unsheathing and other sound effects add lots of character to this track. I really like the arpeggio with the descending baseline where the upper notes stay the same - I think using a constant high-voice ostinato overlying chord changes in the low register is a nice tool to use tie a piece like this together. I think this piece would fit well for a villain in a James Bond movie! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words :) I like the knife unsheating too, I always wanted to make a piece with such a sound effect. I'm glad you liked my theme
This is basically a japanese-style duel song, isn't it? XD Well, nice. I did already mention in the discord that I like it a lot but here goes again. The feel it gives off is really prepparing a person for battle. Very cool. It works like a charm~
I guess I do think it would benefit from a more "larger than life villain" feel. Maybe that could have easily been done with an ochestra accompaniment moving alongside the beats of the song. Maybe an ensemble of strings, with arco staccato's. (Make it imposing enough, and it will also give additional villain feels.) My two cents.
I honestly didn't intend for it to sound japanese. But yeah, I kinda tried to make it sound like a person, a villain if you will, stepping into an arena, prepared to fight. I'm glad you like it :)
I did try to add more strings aside from the bass, but I didn't like it so much. I felt like less would be more for this piece, because I didn't want it to feel like a cluttered mess in a way. So I decided to focus on making an epic trumpet (and tuba) melody. But I know what you mean. Thanks for the feedback!
Ah, yeah, I know what you mean too. It's one of those things that feels like it would work on paper, but in practice... (Mentionining this as anecdotal but, I have others versions of my theme that were a lot "cleaner" and I was half a mind about posting this other version exactly because of this fact. So yeah... I relate.) Well, nevermind I said anything then ^^'
Love the chord choices! I love this slower take on a villain theme!
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you liked it :)
I agree that the dissonance at 0:16 was a highlight! I really enjoyed this.
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it :)
