cool game! it took tome for me to jump from one platform to another, but got the hang of it, nice graphics, and straightforward controls, overall I enjoyed playing , keep it up!
Played as far as I could until I got to the jump right below the area with the blue blocks. I thought you placed the platforms below that very well, where if I feel down on a jump, the platforms below tended to catch me! I appreciated that a lot, because it would have been very frustrating if I fell to the bottom every time. Good job with that placement!
My biggest frustration was wishing the bats had a little less health! For a long time I thought my shooting wasn't actually doing anything.
Thanks for the fun time!
I saw your comment about some of the jumps not being possible, was the jump from day to night where the icy looking blocks were one, I just could never seem to get high enough to get up there. Were you trying to go for like one of those rage jumper games? if so, I think you're on the right track, but if not, I would consider adding in checkpoints that you can respawn at if you fall far enough, bc its really frustrating to get knocked off by a bat and them end up blocking the path so you have to shoot them until they die. But I think you did really a really nice job over all.
Congrats on your first game jam game! I think it turned out really well (especially for your first). Challenge ramped up nicely and there were some pretty good platforming parts. Great job, keep jamming! :)
Really fun platformer, albeit a little on the "too difficult" side! But if your goal was to make a difficult platformer, then you nailed it! Great work!
I like the simple approach to the theme and limitation. A good excuse to make a fun little platformer. It's been said in comments, but if you'd tweaked some of the jumps by just a tile, then those early challenges would be easier to accomplish and encourage players to keep pushing forward.
I liked the minimalistic art style for the character, but I thought it was odd you mixed pixel sizes. It would have looked more cohesive if you'd designed all the elements with that same chunky pixel look instead of mixing it up for the bat and ground/cliff tiles.
Overall, a great entry for your first jam. You should be proud!
simple looking game but i was not sure how to get up on the platformer at the start?
I Like The Game, Tho I Think It Should Be Easier. You Are The Creator, You Know Your Game The Best. You Should Play The Game, And Then Cut Its Difficulty In Half. I Dislike That The Art Is Mixed Up (16x16 && 32x32). I Dont Mean To Assault, We All Are Here To Help You. Hope You Contine Making Game And Making Them Better. =D
Thanks for the advice. I probably should have made it easier and I actually did but I didn’t want to make it too easy since the game is supposed to be similar to getting over it or other games similar to that. Also all the art is 16x16 I just changed the size in engine and I understand now that was probably not the best approach. Thanks for playing!
Wish I could play more but I can not get past the bounce pad double jump section that leads into the icy area. It just doesn't seem possible for me to do it, there's not enough height. I could just be bad though. Still, the music is nice and calming which is good so as to keep you from getting too mad from some of these tight jumps. I liked the challenge of what I could do
Reminded me of Get Over It. The players hitbox could be smaller, and the bats have ALOT of health, it's almost like you WANT me to fall over and over :P Nice sounds and graphics.
