In our entry, you take care of a 'virtual pet' called skippy by feeding it and helping it sleep, and help it learn more about the world by taking it out on adventures like going to the forest, the gym, or the library! What will happen when Skippy learns all it needs to know... well, there's only one way to find out!! Take care of Skippy, and explore everyday!

This is so adorable! I included it in my Virtual Pet Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out. :)

so adorable! i really love the style of this! and exactly the right length. super picky but it would have been nice if the music segments transitioned between each other a bit (even just a crossfade) as it was a little jumpy. And the exploring theme doesn't loop on the beat so every now and again it skips, which made me snap out of the game a bit. But it didn't really matter, as it was a great little story and in all other ways the music worked really well for it!

thanks so much for playing and I'm super glad you enjoyed it! it's great to hear the length was right. and thanks for the feedback! that stuff was on the list to do but i just got a bit tired towards the end and needed to rest, haha. glad you liked it!

Wish I had a Skippy of my own!  Use of FMV adds refreshing reality to the virtual in a most charming way.   Would definitely enjoy more adventures with Skippy.

Very silly, I enjoyed it. The raw novelty of someone submitting an FMV game to a game jam of all places is amusing by itself, but it's also nice to see a game that has a beginning and end. There's some jank in the minigames but they don't wear out their welcome. Biggest critique I have would be that, while the subtitle font is amusing, its low readability kind of goes against good practice for subtitles, and I don't think the charm quite makes up for that, especially since there isn't an option to swap to a more standard font. Regardless, great work to everyone involved!

thanks so much for the feedback! yeah, it was really fun to do an FMV game, and I really wanted it to have a clear beginning and end. The minigames are definitely a little jank so thats something I would def wanna go back and change a bit. thanks for the pointer about the readability; I did have on a list to do to work out more of that but just got a bit pushed to time. thanks so much for playing!

This game is really cute. The up-beat music coupled with the wholesome adventures through town really sells it for me. I don't currently own a pet, but this reminds me of the time that I did.

The two minigames were enjoyable, especially considering this was made in 2 weeks. I did find the platforming portion to be a little clunky; sometimes, I would bounce a tiny bit after I land (are you using Unity physics?). Animation-wise, I think a little bit of squash and stretch on Skippy's avatar would make him look bouncy and emphasize his adorableness.
