  • I wish the story was a bit quicker at the beginning, so you can grow into it. But it was well done, and I didn't find any glitch. Good work overall!
  • This game is very polished and very impressive, but it was kind of a shock to sit through so much dialogue only to be immediately destroyed by such a hard bullet hell. It's also hard to pick out the bullets against the background of stars. All the pieces of this game are great, but I just bounced off it as a whole.
  • Amazing game. The interplay between music and both dialogue & gameplay was sublime.

Come for the music, stay for the gameplay and narrative. This is simply a masterpiece.

it's one of my favourite game from the jam! The dialogue is charming and the facial expression of the character is very well done and helps humanizing the character. The music is also amazing.

I haven’t completed the game yet but holy cow I love your music. The story (that I’ve gotten to) is well written as well. I definitely plan to spend more time playing the game and trying to beat Carl. Poor Carl :(

It's a hard, but fun game.

Although the graphics are simple in comparison to the others, it has a lot of detail, thanks to the story, the bullet patterns and specially the soundtrack.

When playing it for the first time, dying is inevitable. Thankfully, retries are infinite, so it's possible to keep playing to gather skill until reaching the end. There's also a practice mode in case you just want to observe the patterns or watch the ending faster.

I only have a few issues:

  • The 45º rotation is a little bit annoying to aim and shoot, and sometimes you can get confused with which button will rotate left/right. This can be observed in the first level, when you're supposed to dodge bullets by moving around counter-clockwise. It would be cool to be able to aim directly with the mouse, or having a smooth rotation instead of the instant 45º switch.
  • Cutscenes can't be skipped after retrying. While it doesn't repeat literally everything from the start, it's still a little annoying to spam the skip button until you start over.

The game itself is pretty short, with only 3 bosses and 1 extra boss after the ending. But bullet patterns are pretty diverse and there are a plenty of them, so in order to master each one to defeat every boss can take some time. You can also try playing again for a faster time or for a no-damage run, which could add to replayability.

Very well designed overall!

Hello! Thanks for your feedback :)

I understand the frustration with the rotation. There are different Control Modes in the Options where you can switch to a smooth one like you suggest, or change which key rotates in which direction. I think user-customizability is important. Mouse controls were deliberately not added though, both because I felt it'd be too easy, and because I wanted this to feel like a handheld game.

The skip feature is on the list for things to be added after the voting/judging period. Like most issues, it had to be down-prioritized due to lack of time :)

There are some really technically advanced submissions (3d n' stuff) in this jam, but this game feels the most polished and complete out of them! (besides being a little short :P)

Edit: I just managed to beat the 3 basic bosses with practice mode off! I think my favorite is the Rick fight - it just has a great flow.

After playing all of the submissions for this jam, this is by far my favourite.
