A beautiful, emotional little experience. The writing is impactful, and the gameplay is not only engaging, but also represents the story in a figurative, symbolic sense. Having to multi-task between saying the right things to your friend and blocking the asteroids was intense, and climatic, even for such a short story. The dialogue options flowed together very well and made the game feel really immersive.
As I said, this is definitely the most emotional submission I've played thus far. Absolutely no criticisms from me.
I really like this game! The shield mechanic is clever, and replaying the game to get the different endings made me notice and appreciate details like how the opening lines of dialog explain why Aiden's ship stalled in the asteroid field. The music and sounds were great too--they're perfect for a heart-to-heart in space.
The only thing I can think of that the game needs is a way to replay at the end so we don't have to close and reopen the game to get the different endings.
Well done on this submission! It gave me a lot to think about regarding game design.
Thank you! Telling the player about which ending they got was kind of a last-minute decision, as my original plan was to just leave the player in the dark to give more finality to their ending. Game design dilemmas, haha. Really valid feedback!
Honestly, this was really amazing. Gameplay and narrative combined and distilled into a complete and impactful experience, despite its briefness and apparent simplicity. Absolutely amazing work!
