Fun!

But I don't understand what tactic I should have. What I'm doing is bunching them all together and then repelling them so they shoot up in the sky and then I try to suck them down on the other flag.

Couldn't get past the level with 50 bugs.

Developer

Yes that is tactic, but I don't realize why everybody can't get pass that level?  Can you bring at least a few bugs to the finish area?

Submitted

Yeah I got like 20 - 30 bugs. But then it's hard to get more than that.

Host(+2)

Haha. I thought there was some sort of political message I'm not getting. Took me a while to see the game was called International Bugs not Intentional Bugs.  xD

In my opinion your game has the perfect length for a game jam, the idea is really nice and simple and there is a surprising amount of mastery involved in controlling the bugs. For the fun factor it might have been great to have a biiit more control over the bugs but overall still: Well done!

Developer

Thanks, and about controlling the bugs, you can use right click to precise  collocate bugs while on ground. which usually removes annoying situations trying to place them still on the target.

This is one of my favourite games of the jam so far, I'll be detailing more scores for your game and going in a bit more depth because that sort of feedback is the best.

Fun - I love this games mechanics so much. The physics and the rules of movement being the only things given to you mean that as you play through the game you create interesting solutions to problems which is some of the best fun. This can be hard to do well but this game does it very well. This is certainly the Goat Simulator of this jam. 5/5

Simplicity - Without a tutorial the game is simple enough to pick up and understand that it took me less than three seconds to figure out what I had to do. Starting with Mexico and the USA was also an amazing design choice because the context of Mexico, America, and the wall conveys the goal almost instantly. 5/5

Visuals - I do quite like the visuals. Though I also recognize many from the asset store. This is not much of a detriment to the game though as they mesh so well together that you can barely notice in some levels. It is making the visuals fit that help to make a game immersive and this game does it well. 4/5

Sound - The sounds were well made and provided solid feedback on what was happening. It was insanely satisfying to get bugs on a flag mostly because of the satisfying sounds. 5/5

Creativity - I would never in 1000 iterations of this jam ever had thought of a game so simple yet compelling. 5/5

Topic - The bugs and historical references cemented the topic and gave the game quite a bit of charm. 5/5

WOWIE - As my overall score I got the average from my previous ratings. For this game that score is 5/5.

I love this game so much, it would be detrimental not to take what you have made and learn from it. For three days or so of development it was amazing. It is a shame you don't have any other games posted because I would have checked them out.

I can understand why some people may not like this game but I certainly do. Keep up the amazing work!

Developer

Thank you very much for detailed feedback!

I have good new for you :) already posted of ton games but not on itch.io  ,but keep in mind that not all project are games:

This game is so weird, So, so weird. But also super fun, the music is pretty cool as well, Well done making such a fun game!

Fun as fuck I like the subtle little history jabs, really clever. It's got actual bugs being buggy couldn't have done the theme better!

Submitted(+1)

It's.. it's... it's weird and confusing. I made it to the level with the tanks flying everywhere(?), but couldn't get the bugs over the wall. The 'mechanic' results in funny physics. However, it all feels like it has been thrown together without any care. The way there is just water here and ground there, the unrestricted camera movement and the assets lifted straight from the asset store.

Developer(+1)

Tanks are flying everywhere because they should prevent you from you accomplishing the goal, if they didn't fly, they wouldn't be a threat, and reason I didn't place airplane or something  else flying which will have more sense, is historical reference.

The placement of water and ground is result my desire to simplify things, keeping nice looking visuals, but also having minimal effort to get the results I want, so I can to deal with other things.

About unrestricted camera movement, that is not game breaking bug, although I didn't realized before releasing the game.

And about "the assets lifted straight from the asset store" it would be totally dumb to make new 3D models , especially for the result I seek, I would lose most of the time at creating models. I could have made "low poly assets" , but it won't fit in my game style,  along with the fact I need to spend  a plenty of time creating textures for that models, which is inadmissible in game jam due to lack of time.

The feel like all has been thrown together without any care, this is probably due to my desire to somehow  put together topic of game jam( intentional bugs -> weird physics) and topic of my game ( international bugs -> historical references).

Thanks for feedback and sorry for long text :)

Alright, thanks for the explanation.

Amazing mechanic! Even tho it's really stressful, I enjoyed it a lot, also the visuals of this game are really good!

Developer

Thanks!

Interesting!

Couldn't pass the Germany vs America battle, though. I wonder if that's a refrance to something. Hm.

Developer

Try combining left and right click, anyways the real "bug" is that I'm translating object by regular way instead of physics way , which may results problems with different Frames per second.

Submitted(+1)

I was very confused ahahah

But it was an interesting idea, but I couldn't pass the third fase, no matter we I tried ahahahah

Developer (1 edit)

Hold left click then  fast press right, then left click on the end , usually works.

Really enjoyed the play on the topic! Got stuck on the Germany/America 50 bugs level but the game was very cool and a neat idea.

Submitted(+1)

I love the idea HAHA I started laughing when I saw the bugs with the colors of their flags XD Nice game!

Nice game and nice music  :D

This is really funny! I love the wacky physics and the tanks in that one level. It gets pretty tricky too! Love the take on the theme. Well done!

Submitted(+1)

I didn't know one mechanic could be this fun to mess with.

Submitted(+1)

Fun game. I love pushing those bugs in to the water.

Submitted(+1)

Funny idea. The controls are sometimes a little rough.

Developer(+1)

Practice makes perfect :)

It's so funny to look at those tank just flying around XD
