Wow This Game Looks Amazing! You Did an Amazing Job! :D

Listen here Mr. Foozle! This is a great game. A bit difficult as you advanced in levels but otherwise very fun, excellent artwork and music! Love your tutorials too!

Hard as hell, but very fun! Definitely a stand-out. Only things I could point out would be that it could either use a free-aim system plus health regen items, or a significant reduction in the amount of enemies. But that would just be nitpicking. Overall, great work!

Developer(+1)

Thanks AntiClux! Yeah - I was very close to adding in med kit / health pick up spawns but was like nooo it will be too easy then :D.  Perhaps it would have been best to leave it lol.  Thanks for the play!

Very nice game. The fact that we got few amounts of munition plus the fact that we can't aim freely render this game too hard. I think just using amunition for super power and a cooldown for main weapon would increase the joy of playing.

Developer(+1)

yeah - if I had more time to go back that is one of the areas I would try a few different things and see what felt the best- darn those jam deadlines and real life responsibilities! 😂 thanks for the play!

will definitely try to get to it! Love the name / reference.  Currently fighting off a fever though so probably won’t until Monday 😖

Thanks glad that you got the reference. Good luck with your fever take care of you.

Beautiful art and difficult gameplay.  I really liked it and a nice subtle use of cellular automata that I haven't seen before.

Developer

well I had too much fun doing the cellular automata and then needed to figure out how to make it into a game 😂 thanks for the comment!

Lovely graphics and story! I included it in my XanderJam 3 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

Thanks for including in the video and giving it a play!

Love every second of it, even the dying part hahaha, need some high play skills for this.

Developer

Glad you liked it! :)  There has certainly been a lot of dying in this game lol

Cool game, loved the intro cut scene, art and music. Very satisfying taking out several of the drones in one hit with the big blast. I did find it a tad on the difficult side though. I think having a gun that reloads with cool down as opposed to needing to find ammo would help. Also having the drones spawn off screen could improve the game as they catch you off guard when they appear out of nowhere. Great job overall!

Developer(+1)

Yeah I was considering using a reload mechanic but was worried people would just "kite" the drones around and not be forced to go in occasionally... but that might have also made it too hard lol  I loved the first time i hit space bar after setting it up.. was like YUP lets keep that.  Thanks for the review! Cheers

It's pretty cool actually when you get it. Although I would add a white outline around those small enemies.

Developer

Yeah, that would have made a big difference to be honest.  Note to self to remember that next time !  Glad you enjoyed - cheers

Submitted(+1)

Well I kept dying
... I do like a bit of 12 bar surf music :)

Developer

Lol - I died alot too :) I probably can go through maybe 25% of the time without dying / make it to the end without restarting a level and I am the one who made it :P  Thanks for giving it a play!

An interesting concept, but was a little confusing (to me at least), but the controls were quite nice.

Well done :]

Developer

Thanks for giving it a play! Yeah - basic objective is to fine the green guys then escape through the portal before dying.  By level 5 (final level) if you don't have a decent PC it might chug though!  Ran out of time to optimize it lol

Submitted(+1)

I didn´t understand much the game, maybe some help or controls screen would have had helped, but art was AMAZING

good job

Developer

Lol that is what I get for exploring cellular automaton for too long and then making a game after the fact on top of it! :D

Submitted(+1)

Art is great, music is really cool! By level 5 I had to quit out though because the performance issues were just too much...I was running at about 10 fps by the 7th green gem and it just wasn't working for me. I think that might be something to look into for future games. Also the opening cutscene is super cool, but I think there may have been a bug where he would just repeat different lines over and over again. Anyway, great work!

Developer

Yeah - I have a pretty beefy laptop I play tested on.  I knew it was going to become an issue for some but didn't have time to go back and scale down the game before submission lol - Sounds like you were very close to winning the game though! Interesting on the bug mentioned, I never had that hiccup happen in my play testing but will investigate.  Cheers!

really great art!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Brilliant, as expected from Fooooooooozle. Great work on everything.

Hard for me to play with WASD, as I’m a ‘cursor’ guy, but excellent game nonetheless.

Thanks for playing and leaving the comment! Cheers
