Great game! Love the art and I always appreciate a good spooky game on halloween :)
Thanks for your feedback! I listened to everyone and fixed the mistakes.
I liked the vector graphics style, seems clean and smooth.
However, I've had some issues with the physics. First, it won't allow me to pick up pumpkins that are to the left of my cart. Second, I managed to flip the cart upside down and push a couple pumpkins through the ground. The physics is always a pain to set up properly though.
The game could use a couple finishing touches like a small popup showing where stuff (mainly the pile) is in the beginning. It's always better than text. Maybe some indication of day/night approaching could help too (for example, some blinking or changing the color of the clock).
But overall, nicely done!
I may have fallen out of the edges of the map a couple of times. Hope we won't write that on my gamer's resume :D
The game was a bit slow but I liked the music, and the player looks like he's jamming with those vibes at night. Keep it up!
I love the Halloween aspect of this! The art was so much fun. Your choice of music was perfect :)
A few things I noticed: My first 2 playthroughs ended up not finding any pumpkins and eventually fell of the right side of the level the 1st time and fell of the left side the 2nd time. Both times I had to alt f4 out of the game... The pace of the game was pretty slow. I found myself wanting to jump or be able to run up or down hills.... I wasn't sure what the reward was for selling off the pumpkins?... I really think a couple of subtle sound effects would've given the game some much needed life. Like a blip when you pick up or sell a pumpkin and something else when you throw a candle. These small and easy additions can really make a difference... Lastly, the run animation seemed out of sync somehow. Not sure what I was seeing, but it just looked a little off. No big deal, it didn't take away from the game. Just something I noticed.
I enjoyed playing the game and appreciate the effort that was put in to making a game in a week. Great job!!!
Interesting concept. I was a little confused, as usual, even after reading the tutorial. You can fall off both sides of the map as well.
We've got a Jekyll and Hyde situation going on! Did you make all the art? I think you did from the credits. It's really well done and was a highlight in the game. Very clean and cohesive. The animation's were a little slow and clunky though. I don't think you need to put physics on everything (if you did), but it did feel like the gravity was off and I wanted to move faster so I could get into the action of the night, but also so the daytime play wasn't so slow going.
The music you picked fit the overall tone well. I don't think you put a collision boundary on the right side of the room, because my first play I just ran off the edge of the game and had to restart and read the tutorial. After that it was a lot more fun.
I'm not sure how many jams you've done. I've only finished three, but the number one thing I've learned is that you have to build a tutorial into the intro of your game. It's so important for players understanding and enjoying their time with the game ... still, knowing how important it is, my submission doesn't have one either. I handled it with text, which is so much worse than handling it with gameplay.
Overall, this is a really solid solo dev entry and I liked my time with it. Thanks for sharing.
