You are onto something here!
Unfortunately I don't have much musical talent, so I cant compose any cool clone orchestra. But maybe this game can teach me in the future.
The execution of the recordings and clones is great and feels very clean, as well as the instruments.
Small things for improvement:
- You're checking for collision magnitude to determine the volume of the sound already. Get a little "deadzone" in there, If mangitude is less then X, ignore the collision. So if I'm hitting something and scraping over it, the sound will not play multiple times.
- Get the clones on a timer, so it's easier to synchronize them and maybe a metronome to make it easier to compose something for people that are not so talented with music aka me.
I hope I'll see a bit more of this project in the future.
