It’s a nice game with nice graphics that’s good for a bit of disconnection. I also really like the idea that the attack and health are connected, and that both are represented by the amount of ships that you control. That’s nice, and an interesting implementation of the theme. Also, I don’t know if it’s intentional, but there is some sort of melodic cadence when several ships shoot at the same time. It can get repetitive (which could be partially avoided just by randomizing the pitch a little bit), but it results in a nice effect.

Apart from that, the game feels sluggish. The ten minutes (plus the boss fight) pass too slowly, due to the action not being dynamic enough. It would improve a lot if the movement of the ship were faster and things going on in screen were a little more frantic in general.

Also, the movement controls are in local space and that feels quite counter-intuitive, so I ended up just pressing three buttons almost endlessly for the whole length of the game (W, spacebar and the left mouse button). If the control scheme was simpler (maybe the same, but without the W/S buttons), I thing it would feel more pleasant.

Still, even if the game needs some refinements (in my humble opinion), the core loop itself is fine, and I even played it twice to try to defeat the boss.
