This is a perfect jam entry. It has tons of replayability through the different combinations of Mech Parts but a round length is still pretty short (i think i averaged between 2-3 min). Different mech parts have different strengths and weaknesses, which then also enable different playstyles. (Beeing very mobile single weapon vs beeing heavy with a ton of firepower, but extremely hard to manouver). Sounds and visuals fit together nicely, the mech feels appropriately heavy and there is no lack of weapon impact (the appropriate amount of screen shake).
The movement feels pretty janky at first, because you’re rotating 2 elements against or with each other, which is quite complicated, but it offers the possibility of skill expression through the combination of those 2 rotations, which is great. You can mitigate a slow turning tower with turning in the same or opposite direction of your base, so in the end i think this movement mechanic is great.
The crafting is also great, the weight limit makes you really think about what kind of combinations you want, without just picking the most overpowered ones always, so you’re really inclined to explore which combinations work best for you.
I have 2 minor issues, one is the Plasma Bullet hitbox from the bug feels a bit ambiguous, i often thought i was getting hit but it just passed me, but i guess it’s hard to balance between not making the hitbox the whole mech. The secon is that the gattling gun is quite loud compared to the rest, i think it can be toned down a bit.
I also had some sound glitches, which was hard clipping on all sounds. On the web version this happened immediately, so i tried the windows one where it only happened after playing quite a while. (Especially when using the gattling gun, seems like there are probably too many sounds playd at the same time / too many sounds created at the same time)
I just have one question to ask. What did those poor ants ever do to you? :P
