The quest has the location added in later version to make it more clear as well.

I've checked the books in the library, but didn't find the hint.
Figured out, what the trick was, but can't make this work. Always trap the MF with two boxes.

Doesn't the NPC tell you to look in the library?
Can't find all shells in the mermaid city.
Any way to access the barred stuff on the farm (coins and the red barrier)?
I looked it up now and youa re right, she suggest going to the library but I never made a book for it. I am very sorry about that willl add that now. That is entirely my fault-_-
Here is the text that will be added in tehre in a new book to read:
"There was a small forest in the south-western plains. In the past, various rare flowers could be found in there.
But one day a witch claimed that forest her home and no one dared to go in there anymore. The entrance soon got overgrown with plants."
They are very hard to see and spot. Most blend in with the area alomst perfectly so I can't blame you for not seeing them. But I can assure you that they are there in that map with the mermaid city!
Yes all areas in the farm should be reachable, except the cow area that one is still unfinished.
Edit: I saw that i fixed the impossible MF in the warehouse already, so it will be accessible in a future version.
And yes, sub weapons are not listed, only then you are in the equip screen for sub weapons.
