A cute little whimsical mystery with tumultuous emotions on both sides - I did really enjoy the setting that was painted and the characters I met!
(Warning: light spoilers)
I liked the build up to the mystery and the bits alluding to magic and/or escapism, perhaps to cope with the main character's loss. I really liked how they decided to almost call a 'truce' on their issues and work together to help solve the mystery surrounding their shared friend and put it to rest. It did feel a little abrupt from there (they seemed to quickly pool ideas together that they already knew, rather than discover anything new on their search), so Ember's mystery feels a little in the air still. However, I did like that as a result of collaboration, Forrest let his walls down enough to ask Laura out to dinner - whether as a peace offering, a tribute to their shared friend, or more, who knows...
