I love this. The style/aesthetic, the funny dialogue, the audio, it's all fantastic. I haven't managed to beat it yet (at 10 gems) but the fact you made it possible to come back and pick up where you left off is great and I will definitely be coming back again to try and complete it. Only thing I can even remotely ding you on was a few bugs I ran into with the game locking up or text not fitting into bubbles correctly. Also, it's spelled "Dorothy" not "Dorethy".

Awesome job!

thanks for the kind words :) and good catch on my spelling mistake! can you remember where/what happened when the game locked up? would like to get that taken care of.

Was there anything special you did to be able to implement saved states? Is it connected to itch.io or browser?

(+1)

it's connected to your browser using the localStorage object. If you open Chrome and go to View > Developer > Developer Tools, go to the Application pane, and open the Local Storage view. It'll be under the key "saveData".

Yea I do remember actually - the part where you are fighting that jumping spider boss thing. I'm not sure if I walked off screen somehow or something but I wound up in a state where I was on another screen (the one to the left of where that fight happens) but I could still hear the boss sounds. Everything was just stuck with me unable to do anything so I restarted the game. Fortunately the fact it saves and reloads meant I lost no progress.
