Wow, this is such a great concept! What a cool take on the theme. I don't know how to make music, but it was really cool to feel like I was being guided into learning a little bit haha! It was a really fun experience, excellent job!
Here's some feedback if you continue to work on this game post-jam (I think it's a really cool idea, not sure if I've seen something like this before!):
- I was definitely confused how the game worked at first, once I started to get it though it felt good!
- Sometimes it seems like if I hit the record button mid-playback or mid-recording some of the notes would continue playing. It doesn't really feel good on the ears when that happens.
- I didn't get to the very end, it seemed like the very last part had some weird collision or something? The level right before that which required a lot of different key combinations felt very satisfying and rewarding to me though, so I felt OK with stopping after that one.
- There was one time where O and E fell down to another part of the level, I thought I may have soft-locked, but I realized I can get out of it by hitting record again.
- The movement of the characters felt weird, and there were a couple parts that felt confusing. For example, when I got to one of the staircase parts I was like "how are they supposed to get up?" and then I once I saw how they move I was like "oh they can get through diagonal blocks."
- I think my keyboard layout was OK with this, but it might be good to add support for different layouts. Unfortunately, you can't really do mouse alone from what I can tell because of chords. Or maybe just a handful of keys at any given time so you'd only have to bind a handful?
Overall great job! This was a fun experience. I think it's a really cool idea that can you can expand on. Thanks for making this!
