Ooh, this is a really cool spin on the idea! When the theme was announced, we were also contemplating to interpret the theme as "built something using musical scales", but didn't exactly figure out a good game mechanic with that idea, glad someone else figured something out. I love how a track slowly evolves over time and it's nice that the levels allow for a bit of artistic freedom. Character movement seems a little weird and towards the end of the second level I broke it by accidentally recording a note on my previous playthrough that I think messed up any chances of escaping. Would be neat if the characters also moved on time, but I can see that becoming tricky with the climbing mechanics. Overall, I love the concept and would love if you continued working on this after the jam, I think there's a lot of potential still in here. Great job!
Super unique idea. It's very polished for 4 days and the level design does a good job of toeing the line between a puzzle game and a rhythm game. It took me a second to figure out what I was meant to do (even tho it was mentioned before the game started). Maybe some in-game text to lead the player in the first tutorial level would be helpful. I'm nitpicking criticism tho this was a super unique and clean game.
This was super unique! Pretty tough to grasp, at least when you’re tone deaf like me. But I liked it nonetheless. Props for the themeing too.
This game is the most unique interpretation of the theme I've seen this whole jam. The music and mechanics word perfectly with each other, the story is simple but beautiful.. and so addictive, I completed every level and I am thirsting for more, its truly impressive work!
One of the most unique games I have played in this jam. The fact that the level both works and sounds good is amazing props to you.
First thing's first- I can't believe a single person made this in 4 days. Hats off to you! I love these sorts of games where I'm the guardian of predictable AI entities and I have to control them through indirect means. Playing with a level editor that makes pretty sounds is both unique and rewarding, and hearing my compositions layer on top of each other as I ascended was a fantastic feeling and a perfect example of what makes the interactive medium so uniquely powerful. My only constructive feedback is that the layout of keys felt unintuitive on some layers of the tower and broke the illusion that I was playing piano keys. One example that comes to mind was when the 'A' key served as the note one step above the 'M' key. It was an extra layer of mental gymnastics that made certain floors trickier than they needed to be. Because the game never requires use of more than one octave at a time, I think the keys used could have been consistent across all floors in an unbroken left-to-right layout, similar to a piano. But don't get it twisted- this game rocks and my singular gripe didn't hamper my enjoyment. Outstanding work, and you can bet I'll be checking out your future projects!
Wow, this is such a great concept! What a cool take on the theme. I don't know how to make music, but it was really cool to feel like I was being guided into learning a little bit haha! It was a really fun experience, excellent job!
Here's some feedback if you continue to work on this game post-jam (I think it's a really cool idea, not sure if I've seen something like this before!):
Overall great job! This was a fun experience. I think it's a really cool idea that can you can expand on. Thanks for making this!
Was a bit hard for me to learn, but once I got it, I could not stop
Loved the game! A really cool concept, well executed. The take on the theme is nice, too.
I love musical games, and this one was so pretty to play
I have rated it at the best 💯 according to it's standards that this game deserves. The design and the concept of the game is very good. A little .more polish and additional features can make it a standout game.
Be sure to play mine as well.
Controls feels bit akward. But the game is interesting. And it's so satisfying to hear full melody at the end. Good job!
Hey, thanks for the comment! I had a hard time figuring out how the controls should work in this game and what controls were needed. I'm curious, what might make them feel less awkward for you?
Good controls are really hard indeed. So I don't have solutions. But I can describe problems. Initially I was confused with stop symbol meaning "Record" (in my head this is a circle) and double "Play" symbols. So i had to go an read how to actually play the game. Also I didn't really get why so many different keys are used for notes. Plus every stage keys were different. And it's hard to coordinate vertical in-game keyboard with horizontal real one. Also I had slight issues playing starting note at right time. I think if time indicator was visible before track starts it would be easier. Metronome was not very helpful for me in this regard.
Hey thanks so much! That is all super helpful feedback!
Glad if that helps.
Definitely creative and satisfying to have the music track revealed piece by piece. Nice work!
Really cool take on the theme! Impressive work!
This is a really creative take on the jam theme! I really like the music SCALE idea haha. I like how the levels got progressively harder but it wasn't too hard so it was easy to get into the flow of the game
Neat idea! It was tricky for me to figure out at first. Would be neat to play something like this on a midi keyboard. I like the idea that you add to the song with each puzzle you complete. Well done!
Thanks! Yeah, 100% this should have midi support. I don't know if it's possible to implement that in gamemaker, but I'll look into it post jam.
Hello, composer from the game "Crescendo" here! Really cool idea to use MIDI notes as platforms and the layout of a DAW to construct a puzzle platformer! Definitely a unique game and has a lot of potential to succeed as a full game. I found the recording of the notes to add a nice layer of realism when composing music, so that was really cool! The level design was also very clever especially since it had to match the music of the game, so again, amazing work!
This game was so cool!! I love Greek mythology and this is such a cool take on the theme. It did take a second for me to figure out the gameplay and I got stuck about halfway up and couldn't go any further but still had a lot of fun. I think after the jam, you could turn this into a real game with some tweaks and QoL improvements.
Hey thanks! That means a lot coming from another music game maker. I do hope to make some improvements after the Jam. There is a "Post Jam Jam" that I entered after GMTK last year where you take an existing Jam game and work on it for a month. I'm planning on doing that again with this game.
Ooh, I didn't know about the post jam jam, that sounds like an awesome thing and yes, please keep working on this game! It has so much potential and I think it would be such a fun little story/music puzzle game

Really creative game! Got through some of the puzzles, very interesting.
I made it!! What an original idea! When I had to play chords to beat the levels, I almost quit because it was very difficult, but in reality, that wasn't an option because I was really into it hahaha.
Congratulations for the game !
By the way, is happening that if Eurydice dies one time she becomes transparent?
Awesome job! Thanks so much for playing! I know the last few puzzles are maybe too hard, but I was running out of time when I was designing them. Eurydice becoming transparent is a bug that I thought I fixed. thanks for the screenshot!
