I have never encountered the red stuff in the sea, but I could imagine the water being randomly too shallow :D for the resistances I see your (and others) point, but I think since the game has upgrades (although limited by time) I think the game has to start harder and becomes easier the more ships you sink ;) I will note it for the next jam tho!
