I played a little bit of the Call because the character art for this was very unique and it was a good draw to showcase their appearances first and foremost in this game. The Battle System is pretty standard [not a bad thing] although I had trouble figuring out how turn-system works in it. It isn't like the FtB battle system where you can pick who attacks and who doesn't as each character has a fair chance for one turn at least but you have occasions where characters attack more than once which is a little peculiar in my honest opinion. The tilesets I was pretty mixed on. On one hand the Earth town in my opinion was the best designed but I it was also the smallest one in my mind. Was curious on why the characters were still in a moving animation during cutscenes where they were talking but didn't exactly turn towards the Air/Fire enemy. There was also a passability issue I found on the map.
The character bust art doesn't exactly reflect their sprites which I usually am more nitpicky on but because this was for a Game Jam and the priority seemed to be on the battle system and the story [the best part of the game imho] I wouldn't be too upset about it unless you angle for a larger project.
Storywise I like it a lot. Gives me a little bit of W.I.T.C.H. in the girls get a mission from their higher ups to dispose of an enemy [I guess it would more accurately be like Totally Spies]. It was easy to understand though I would have loved to see more of the world the girls live in and how more fleshed out the girls would have been interacting with the other elements. Overall a fun and simple experience that has potential to become something more.
