I tried so hard and got so far But in the end, it doesn’t even matter I had to fall to lose it all But in the end, it doesn’t even matter
Ok now, but for real, the extended edition director’s cut review featuring Frame from the Devil May Cry series
I played the Windows version. Probably one of the two or three of them that did download the game. Of course it ran way better than the WebAssembly version… but you know, this is the single game that I spent the most time out of all, so far.
You made someone that doesn’t like arcade games, spend hours trying to beat it. Not only that… I figured out not only the controls, but also the key to progress in less than a minute.
I heard soooo many stories that the bulls were bad, but first round and I got to 3/5. And I did not know what the storm mode did (cause lol I did not read anything lmao), that I did not use the storm mode and got to 4/5. Low health, but did.
Then I got rekt by the RNGods. They debuffed me hard. I survived castles of bulls around me, because the controls were so easy, so tight, so well executed; that you made someone that fails at anything reflex-bound a damn good player. Probably can beat it if I spent more time.
I did get some small bugs, mainly blobs flipping below the floor. And then the collision started coming alive. I don’t know how or what or whatever you did, but it’s so damn well executed, that even the bugs were good.
Consistent design, consistent visuals, _a decently good choice of music and SFX. Recommend using a mechanical keyboard with linear switches, like an MX Red, to hammer that space bar like a cookie clicker.
…that’s the only thing that I find kind of dangerous about your game. It’s very susceptible to turbo controller/autofire keys. Won’t say why, but you need to make some conditional checks on the physics routine to account for these kinds of cheating scenarios. But it’s such minutia, such small polishing details, that tbh… I don’t care. It’s a game jam. I had fun.
take my 5/5. not a single regret. go play it. NOW
