This was a fun “snake, eat all what you can” game. 🐍

GAMEPLAY
An enjoyable game with a nice "twist" on who the real monster is. The controls worked well, and the dash was a fun addition. It was tricky to time, but also valuable since it allowed you to eat certain pumpkins you couldn’t otherwise reach. The variation through the levels kept it interesting enough, with just a bit more to do and avoid each time. More enemies, hazards, and different environments would enhance it even more, but considering the short jam, it’s already great. Maybe for a future update, the game could evolve like classic Snake, where you grow longer with each item eaten, affecting areas you can access or enemies you can fight.

The black pitfall penalty felt a bit harsh, with a full restart. Perhaps losing a heart or resetting the level but keeping pumpkin progress would be less punishing.

VISUALS
The graphics looked great, with the orange pumpkin blood trail fitting well aesthetically. The pixel art style, along with the animations, particles effects, dash effect, and environment, was nicely done. The subtle camera shake added to the immersion.

AUDIO
The music had a great beat that I liked, and the sound effects completed the experience well.

THEME
The theme was definitely incorporated through the story and the gameplay.

All in all, an enjoyable game jam entry. Well done 💪!
