Even if this does eventually get updated I get the feeling it's not gonna have the same passion and care it was once given. There was talk in the RD comment section about this game being abandoned, dev said ch. 20 would be after 0.8 of RD. That happened in august, and RD got another update before ch. 20 of CD came out. Someone mentioned how it seemed like the dev was trying to milk extra money since they were pushing so hard to get it priced and on steam. I started to wonder if that comment had some truth and called them out on it in the RD comment section, that comment got deleted pretty quick for it to stay "on topic." This has been a big downhill, RD is worse than CD imo and yet that's the one getting all the focus.

Casual Desires is currently a free game that I develop as a hobby. That will change with the Steam release, but until now it's been logistically difficult to devote the same amount of time as RD.

By the same logic, Rebel Duet is also a "free game" and yet it has been given an absurd amount of development time. Looking over at some of the posts, it seems as though you have a devout following for Casual Desire, some of which are paid supporters whether it be via Patreon or otherwise. It feels as though you're burned out and have lost interest in developing Casual Desire. CrubMuncher and Trf95 have excellent points and your lack of progress is telling.

As a soon to be former patreon supporter - perhaps it might have been better to finish one project before starting another. Alternatively, you could have easily given the project over to someone else, say, the modder Homatoz or someone else who shows more passion (or lack thereof) for the game than you do

All updates for Casual Desires have been released to the public for free. Patrons have gotten new chapters 3-5 days early, but these are typically beta versions containing lots of bugs. This is very different from RD which is currently being sold on both Steam and itch as an Early Access title.

The difficulties in getting CD approved on Steam was definitely a factor in the game receiving comparatively little development time. CD has gotten decently popular over the years, but the reality is there's just no way it could've ever been profitable without a Steam release. Thankfully, the game was approved on Steam a few weeks ago, which allows me to work on the game regularly again.

I do enjoy developing RD more (the lack of a story in CD means less creative freedom), but to be clear, my feelings are irrelevant and have very little impact on the release schedule. Casual Desires will continue to be updated until it reaches an ending point that I think is satisfying for players.
