Update: I can't get journaling to work no matter what I do. If the yellow tube is too empty, I get the edge case message, if I have not used enough, I'm told Mary has to do things before she can journal. Looks like some others have gotten through the game though and I know how hard it can be keeping track of a lot of variables in short jam. (My game has some lights not turning off between rooms if you try to go back because I did not see that happen in playtesting.) Might wait til after the jam to try to get past the yellow tube. I really like the concept for this game and the art is great, though I have a few suggestions for gameplay.
- Make the text a little bigger. Contrast with the background is fine for me, but I could barely see the text until I fullscreened and even then it could be a bit bigger.
- Instead of clicking the floor to enter rooms and bring up options (which maybe was fastest to set up during the jam period), try having the player click each item (stove, door, bed, etc.) to interact with it. That way, if you finish up the day by showering, you won't have to leave the room, then come back to go to bed . An exclamation point could be shown over each available location.
Sorry for the long wall of text. I plan to try playing again sometime after the jam.
