I've been really enjoying this game, I'm currently just doing a few things to prepare for my first "Big End Game Step" (Trying not to spoil), and I've been playing this a lot in the background while I'm at work. I have just noticed that there hasn't been any updates on it for a few months, and that's totally fine I totally understand game development takes time, I'm just curious if there is any news! I also wasn't sure if there has been more talk in the discord, which I am unfortunately not in yet.

Hey!
I'm so glad you're enjoying it, that's the biggest thing.
You are right, updates have essentially stopped. Unfortunately, life has gotten the better of me, and while I love the game, and a lot of people love the game (I still monitor the server, and we still have a decent amount of daily players!) it simply doesn't pay the bills. To add onto that, MMO Sim was one of my first attempts at putting a game out, it was extremely ambitious as a first major project, and I've learned a lot since then. A lot of the code and the structures that MMO Sim are built on are very difficult to work with, and it makes things even slower.
I'll never say never as far as continuing to work on MMO Sim, but for now, I have to keep a roof over my head, and just don't have the time that I used to have. At this stage, an update is planned for sometime in the near future to fix some bugs that have been reported in the Discord, but I can't commit to any timeframe on any other updates :(
Thanks so much for your response! I completely understand that you have real life responsibilities to focus on and manage. It is sad to hear that your excellent work and passion for this project didn't pay the bills, but I can totally sympathize with the struggle of "being too ambitious for a first project."
I'm glad to hear that it's not officially cancelled, you can always pick up the torch for it in the future, should you find the time and energy! However, I completely understand the need to focus on other projects, or just with taking care of real life responsibilities. I will absolutely be keeping an eye out for future projects from you, as I was really impressed with this! Seriously, don't be discouraged, and know that, even if it takes time, you managed to create a quality project that I and many others were able to enjoy, and that's a LOT more than many people can say!
I look forward to seeing whatever comes next from you, should you find the time to either further expand on this project, or begin a brand new one!
I wish you nothing but the best :)
