Hi, I wanted to clarify the rules on AI-assisted coding. It says AI can assist, but most of the code must be my own.

I primarily use AI to generate code since that’s how I learned game development. However, I still handle game design, debugging, structuring, and refining the final product. For example, in one of my games, I needed a way to create level layouts without a game engine, so I developed a system using ASCII maps and a custom tile map editor, which AI helped generate, but I structured and refined.

Would this affect my eligibility for prizes? I just want to make sure my approach aligns with the jam’s rules.

Thanks for your time.

Hi! Yes, your approach is within the guidelines. AI assistance is allowed, but the majority of the work should still be your own. Since you’re actively structuring, debugging, and refining the code, you’re in line with the rules. Just make sure AI remains a tool in your process rather than the main source of your work, Good luck with your game! 😊
