Wow, this game is addicting! I am a big fan of arcade games, and this game has a lot of what makes those games real good. The game loop is super simple, but how the scaling of difficulty was dealt with is amazing! I feel like normal is kind of a bit too slow in my opinion, but that might just be a personal preference (That speed is kind of feels like its in the middle between easy to normal, but i dont know if I'm just that good lol). Hard difficulty was super engaging and the way the rate at which it speeds up the spawn rate this of seeds is just so well done! Its just an adrenaline rush trying to click all the seeds during the later parts of the game. I think the game is really well balanced, so nice job on that department! The game also matches the theme perfectly, 100%, plus it doesn't feel like any other jam game I have played so far (only played 1/5th of the games as of this comment, but I still think this is a valid point). Its addicting and its fun, really feels good to play. Also, I don't know if it was intended, but was the orange flowers just a fun cosmetic you can buy in the shop? I assume thats probably the case, but it actually also functions as sort of an upgrade in a sense that since the orange flower is half the size of the sunflower(?) it allows the player to see more of the screen, which is helpful.
There are some things I would like to point out though. I think the art is a little lacking. I really appreciate the sprites and the various sort of level themes you have, so theres a plus for that. I think the main problem with the art is that it sort of lacks consistency. You can tell that the the sprites were scaled up to suit the level size, but it kind of just looks jarring. Even if you didn't scale up the sprites, it still gives that kind of impression (The ground looks scaled up due to the detailing being blocky, some sprites have black outlines in them and some do not, etc.). I think what matters a lot when it comes to game art is not how well each art asset looks individually, but how well everything looks together, (hence consistency). Sprite sheets help a lot not only in animating sprites, but help in giving the artist the sense of scale in their work. If you don't feel the need to focus on art, then thats fine (as the programmer I am, I also feel this way haha).
I think the UI elements also need to better indicate what everything is for. I got kind of lost on what was my health in the beginning, and its kind of hard to see the small text while you're trying to focus on not losing a life, so not only do sprites help with that (three heart sprites in a row), sound effects really do help relay information to the player. Speaking of sound effects, I wasn't sure about the sound effect at first, but I got used to it after a while. I think adding more sound effects would have increased the feel of the game as well (seeds falling to the ground, picking up coins, button click effects, etc.). Also, weird choice in music, but I found it to be quite nice after a while.
Last point. I think the flowers and ground occupy too much of the screen. The ground doesn't need to take up almost half the screen (you can probably follow the 2/3rds rule for that and make it take up only 1/3rd of the screen), plus the flowers are so huge that it blocks some of the vision from the player and makes getting seeds harder (if you intentionally want to make this game a bit harder, than I think you can keep the flower size as is).
I just want to say that this might seem like a lot of complaints, but these issues are small in comparison to the detail and attention you put in the gameplay and features of the game. They are issues that still need to be addressed, but I'm more of a person who pays more attention to the gameplay. If you want it to reach a wider audience, you would need to address some of the issues still, but yeah. I am honestly surprised that this is your first game jam game, and I wish you good luck with the future of this game (seems like a nice mobile game)! This was a pleasant surprise and I had a lot of fun with it! Great work!
P.S. Highest score is 12800 on hard difficulty, don't if thats good though lol
