The horror did come through, as I felt chased the whole time. But that made it really hard to get to grips with the game. As soon as things start you are running for your life inside an unfamiliar map. TO get the instructions for the machine I was lucky, as the enemies got stuck on the stairs so I had time to actually read the signs.
What I'm trying to say is that the player needs time to get the instructions, so the console room really needs to be a safe space to hide in. Adding a closing door would help a lot at making the player feel safe, so we know they won't get us there and we can take a break.
