Basically, Its a balance thing. Though, the mecha-bird needs "Controls" to be able to move and not skate about. When too many "Controls" are collected, the Bird becomes overcharged (Magenta), gaininig speed, but malfunctioning, causing erratic movement. When hoarding 'controls' goes out of control, the bird also goes out of control, becoming super-charged (Blue)! Attaining mach-speed, but malfunctioning to the limit.

Health is the second factor, on 3 HP (Full health) makes the bird slip about, making it less controllable, and getting to 1 HP gives the bird more drag, making it more accurate in its movements, but leaving the player in danger.
