Thanks, found it. It seemed to convert fine, although sadly I was unable to get the place itself to work. Where a round would normally start, the boats break and fall into the ground. I also tried a conversion method I found that involved using 2013 studio, and sadly that didn't make a difference. I'm thinking it might require a later version of roblox closer to 2012 or 2013 (the last year it was updated). I'll keep looking for solutions in my own time, but if you wanna take a crack at it, here's the link. https://www.roblox.com/games/28603691/Naval-warfare

The reason I think it needs a later version is because in the current client the boats dont fall into the water upon round start, and there are scripts that still work like the server timer, and the game's menu system. The current game's gui works fine like I said, however the current game is broken presumably due to the retirement of experimental mode.

What year was the build released?

If it's for a year below 2013, it's gonna be fast and can cause glitches like fast motion, gravity disadvantages, and other stuff. I learned it the hard way with Finobe 2016 and Frost Nova, where the rides spawned too fast.

By build do you mean the roblox version on novetus, or the latest build of the game I want to convert? The latest roblox version available to me on novetus is mid 2011 I believe. The last time the game itself was updated was on June 7th 2013

Both, yeah.

I kinda meant the time the update the actual map file was from. If you don't know when this is, you can try using the wayback machine (well known) on the game URL to find out.

Also sounds like you don't use fan mods for Novetus.

Should be a link to download abandoned "experimental" clients in the discord, if not I can pack you a quick Late 2013, Mid 2014, and Early 2015 client, but keep in mind you cannot update them and they're very outdated and unused. It also has a more confusing and more compact launcher interface, so keep this in mind.

I've tried looking around for the discord invite but all the ones I've found seem to be outdated, so it'd be much appreciated if you could drop me a link. I think I used the mid 2011 build of roblox to open the game, but I'd love to try those experimental builds to see if it makes a difference. I originally downloaded the .rbxl file in 2020/current studio, so would that mean the mapfile is from current day? Or does it go off of the last time the game was updated (June 7th 2013)? I used wayback and the earliest version of the webpage I can find is 2015. http://web.archive.org/web/20151229202200/https://www.roblox.com/games/28603691/Naval-warfare

I forgot the original links, so here's a drive link instead. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wESPAuLUmXhwBvw5dE_myQ9xrbTLrBPF?usp=sha...

The map might have already been converted, but that depends if you got an empty document error or not.

The year you download the file doesn't affect it's functionality, but when it was updated, does. No idea if this is true or not, but I'm just gonna assume its because ROBLOX keeps the old saved file up.

Kinda weird the earliest snapshot is 2015, though. Must just be really old and unpopular is all.
