Quite the different game to what I've typically seen so far, and there were some pretty cool aspects to it, especially in its presentation being simple, yet effective and appealing for the most part. My main criticism comes from the core gameplay loop being quite flawed. My issue is that going to collect allies has no actual thought you need to put into it, you just fly towards them and pick them up without having anything actually happen, making this opening phase before the actual boss encounter feel insubstantial busywork. I feel that despite what I've said though, there's a certain grandiose nature to coming up against the boss, so the whole flair and presentation definitely saves this somewhat, and the boss itself is challenging and climactic, with the army you've amassed adding that additional layer of drama. I feel like with some more audio feedback, such as enemy shooting noises and sounds when people get shot, this could be made even better and more exciting, along with adding some sort of point of interest for finding the allies. With these, I think you've got yourself a really great game on your hands.
