First off, well done for your first ever game jam! Hope it was a good experience for you!

A quick question - were the levels procedurally generated? If so, amazing job!

Okay, so down to a genuine review and feedback:

Menu

I love the interactive menu, took me a few moment of clicking around to figure that out but that's just me being a dingus. Nice story added into the tutorial, could be missed by some folks though so maybe even add this to the main game to give some more context. However, it works as intended!

The Game

Movement felt pretty solid. I've played a couple of these type of boost in facing direction type games and some of them had movement that was way too difficult to control or super slow - this was a great combination of both and after a few mins of getting used to, I got the hang of it quite well.

Visually, the fire effects, aliens and player sprites all looked nice. I wasn't super keen on the trash around the level all looking the same though, a few variations would have been nice.

In terms of level design (looked like they were procedurally generated which is super impressive!) the only obstacles I really encountered were the walls of trash. I think some more obstacles, moving trash perhaps? etc. would have been cool but it's a game jam so I guess there's not a whole lot of time.

In terms of the goal of the game - The "Win" condition, I don't think that this was super clear, I'm still a little unsure what I needed to do to win. Making this clearer (hence my suggestion of a compulsory tutorial) would be better.

Sounds

As you've said some sounds and music would be cool. Check out freesound.org and the r/gameassets subreddit where people often share free sound effects and music.

Overall

Fun mechanics, but a limited amount of them. Impressive levels if they are procedurally generated but too samey looking and need more variation to look better. Sounds and music would add a whole extra layer of quality and a more detailed background to the levels would look great. More obstacles and a clearer objective for the player are needed to make it feel like a full game. Also check out post-processing to make a game look super polished with effects quite easily.

Overall, good job and hope to see you taking part in more game jams in future!

The level are in fact procedually generated! All what you could add is correct! For the future I'll try to have a better win condition for all my games, you are right. Have you reached any Alien King?  The way of winning is killem them all. Okay. I'll check post processing methods. Thank for you advice!! I'll keep working on my skills!
