This is a really cool concept!! I love everything about it! The only thing I think you could improve is just telling us how each element works and that the flags were checkpoints, but other than that it wasn't hard to pick up! Great job!
I tried to introduce one mechanic at a time so that it's easy to learn. With a few elements, I generally don't explain how they work and rather let the player discover it for themselves. If there were a lot more, I can see how it would be confusing. But thank you for the feedback :)
