I liked your use of the theme. E.G. it ENCOMPASSED the game. Nobody playing the game can say "I don't think this is about food..." Great work on that!

I loved the music!! It has a Bugsnax vibe to it that really fits the jellybean-candycane vibe of the world. It messed up sometimes, but still it's awesome. I'm glad you had good save points too! That made the game easier in the long run. Especially for the boss.

Some polish issues that could be because of the time constraints:

  • There was a tutorial hidden behind the life gague when you reach the health stations. I was able to figure out with context, but its unreadable.
  •  Fall speed is too fast. It makes every jump kind of scary.
  • Soft locks. Early on, I got stuck in pits i couldn't jump out of and had to reboot the game. This happened a couple times, but it still made it a bit frustrating. Especially with the fall speed being so fast.
  • Some impact noises for the enemies would have made the blood effect punch a little harder, but that feedback was good on its own.
  • I got lost. A bunch. If a minimap or something were implemented, or if doors were color-coded, it would be great, but the threat of soft-lock pits and death made re-navigating a chore.

Otherwise, great job! You made a functioning game with great music in a month. Awesome job, seriously!

Thank you so much for your feedback!
Really regret not catching that tutorial text bug at the health stations, and really sorry about the soft locks. Will take note to playtest my game a bit more in the future, I think i didnt plan my time for doing stuff in this jam really well so I ended up not play testing as much.
Quite a few people have commented on the fall speed and after replaying the game and feeling the character controller again I agree with how fast it is falling, will change the script to have the character be more "floaty" when it stops jumping and have a terminal falling velocity put in place.
Will also make SFX one of the priorities in the next jam I get myself into, havent dabbled in that before so was a bit hesitant doing that here.
Once again thank you for the feedback!
