Very entertaining visual novel. Now, I’m coming to this game from the angle of someone who’s never actually played a visual novel…

I really liked the voice work. The audio was clean and clear. The acting was very nice, especially given the limited time of the game jam. The story (what little I did play, so far) is fun and interesting. I also liked the voice-over given to the menu options when accessibility is enabled. Here are a few observations though…

  1. When in the proper, the menu options feel like they’re in a clunky place at the bottom of the screen. Often, as I was either moving my mouse to select an option, or just simply moving my mouse away from the text to read it better, I would hover over one of these options and the audio queue would speak over the dialog being spoken. It wasn’t a huge issue, but it happened several time. I think, if the “menu” was kept in it’s own area of the screen, that could make it easier. For instance, if the menu options were on the left (like the main menu) and the rest of the game took the majority of the right, it might reduce the chances of accidentally triggering those menu audio queues.

  2. I know you mentioned you used an engine for the dialog system, but I’ll still mention this… There are times when I make a dialog option choice and it triggers the next dialog right away, while other times I make my choice and then nothing happens until I click the screen again. It does interrupt the flow just a little.

  3. I’m not fully sure this is a bug or as designed, but, there were some options that I click on that gave me some dialog that was given in a previous option. Like I said, I’m not entirely sure if that was by design, or if the system was accidentally triggering dialog that belonged in other options by mistake. The way the story was written in the sections I encountered this, it didn’t interrupt the story, and it’s easy enough to click past the bits I had already listened to, but figured I’d mention it.

Over all, very nice game! Very good audio with an entertaining story! Excellent work!!

1 is due to the engine, but I could probably change if i work at it

2 might be the engine or it might be my programming. I'd have to look into it.

3 is a known bug that I added to the game description after you played the game.

Thanks for the feedback!
