Really enjoyed this game! I absolutely love the immersion. The echoing music matched well with the deep yawning caverns. I loved how dimly lit it was. Perfect to show the painting mechanic well. I loved how it looked when I lit up the rocks! I did have some performance issues but I've found that to be the case when I play games with glowy stuff for some reason. I think it'd be cool if some enemies spewed glowing blood to help a little with conserving ammo and scouting. But that could be part of the gameplay. I really did enjoy the fact the bullets were also your health. Made me cautious and think twice if I wanted to explore more or save myself. I think this could be a really really nice expanded game. For a game jam game though, I think I'd have liked a bit more forgiving levels/shorter duration. I spent about 30 minutes on it and died at the 3rd level twice. It would have been nice to use the store sooner so it is easier for more people to try out more of the game earlier on. Visually stunning though wasn't a huge fan of the chromatic aberration as it can be a little hard on the eyes. Maybe an option to turn it off. Had some issues with control responsiveness too. Think that would be my biggest complaint though as I was already having performance issues. I did really enjoy playing the game and looked great! Would play more.

Hi! Thank you very much for the long reply! I was worried about performance since I added a last minute feature that the neon/noise sounds volume is based on your distance to the paint to give it a more toxic feel. But since it was a last minute change and I didn't create a proper system for that I used the surface_getpixel function wich you should actually never use and it eats up 30-40% of the fps :/ I should definitely have added an option to disable this :P Having the option to disable the other post processing effects is a good idea too. When making jam games I always find it hard to get the difficulty right. I want to add all the features I planned but then have not much time for testing :P Maybe I'll do an updated version sometime with better balancing and the other features (:
Yeah it's weird the performance issues I've been getting in some of the games. My laptop is also pretty good and can run any game I've tried. So not quite sure what the issue is. Theory is that the integrated graphics card is being used instead for gamemaker games for some reason. I'm looking forward to playing any updated version you have of it. It's a game that's very appealing!
