I'm fighting the training bot on the right and when I use a skill it says Failed to load animation: Fire2.png

(+2)

That's not good! I'll try to fix asap.

So I added the missing animation file, which is very strange to be excluded during deployment. I did not manually mess with any files.
The upload is going to take a while now. Can I later add the windows, mac, linux versions, or will this violate the jam rules?

The Exclude Unused Assets option also deletes any files that were only referenced in script calls. Maybe that's why. Dunno.

Feel free to add those versions later. :)

So it's up again, I hope there are no more issues, cause I will not be checking again until tommorow!
Hope you enjoy!

I absolutely love this game so far. The exploration is superb, I love how all of the locations are interconnected, how you can open up shortcuts, the quests with multiple ways to solve them. And the RTP, you did a stunning job, loving the signs over shops and such, it really gives the game its own charm. Like seriously, I'll consider giving this game a 5/5, because considering that this is a game jam game, it's really superbly put together. Your previous game was very good too, but this is on another level entirely. Simply amazing. And despite being pretty open, the game also feels fairly intuitive as to where you need to go.

I can't say much about story so far, haven't really progressed much in the main quest, I just got sent by the boss to ger something from Cobra Gang. However, it certainly intrigued me as to where it will go.

Now, there's a few things I didn't like, but these are minor:

1) The tutorial needs a save spot in the first half. With that missing animation bug crashing the game in the first version and me accidentally clicking off the page at some point, it would be nice if I didn't have to go through the intro part over and over again.

2) Speaking of tutorial, the part where you need to avoid the drones... I don't see the point as to why you are thrown into an unwinnable battle against them that drags on. Just teleport the player back to start if they catch you.

3) You can still buy Terminal Repair Tools even after you already have them. Would be nice if you couldn't anymore so the player doesn't waste their money. If there's a reason why you might need to buy them again, ignore this.

4) When I got the mission to go to 503 building with the Cobra gangsters and get something from there, I got in by saying I have a meeting with their boss. They let me in, but then I wandered into the severs through the back entrance to explore them. I found the way in the sewers blocked by the slimes I wasn't strong enough to defeat, so I want back into the building and all of a sudden, they were calling me an intruder. So, I was stuck in an unwinnable situation. Sewers were blocked by slimes, the building was blocked by the gang members who jsut a few minutes later were alright with me visiting their boss but now werent just because I stepped into the backyard for a moment. Maybe have them remember they let me in instead of immediatelly turning hostile when you venture into the backyard?

5) There's some kind of choice paralysis effect going on with the combat upgrades. There's so many of them from different vendors, money is limited and I have no idea what to get. I feel like the game could use a little more guidance on that part.

Anyway, absolutely stunning job so far! I'll definitely try to play through the whole game!

Thanks a lot for your review so far!
You are correct on the points you make, but I will not answer them until you complete it.
You already encountered some problems and you will surely uncover some more, but at least I'm happy the parts that I put the most effort (exploration and graphics) were appreciated.

Ok, so I finished it, via the resistance part. Really cool game, though I would've appreciated a non-combat option to beat the final boss. I normally wouldn't miss it, but with the way this game is structured, I think it would've fit (maybe if you solve some extra puzzle or something).

Anyway, great work!

Thanks a lot! As you pointed out in the earlier review, there is an overwhelming array of combat/upgrade/gear options, and the reason is I initially had a larger scope for the game.
But in the end I had to cut some stuff, including rushing through the last dungeon (for both paths). Non-combat option for the final is a great idea, especially considering that my main inspiration was vampire bloodlines and fallout, yet it didn't even cross my mind.
Anyway I wanted to try out making something with dense exploration and since you liked that part, I consider the experiment a success, and I will try to improve on it on the next game.

Indeed, I got an old WRPG vibe from this game and figured you were trying for something like that. Yeah, non-combat option for final boss would be great, the first time I actually got all the way to him without engaging in combat at all (aside from the tutorial combat encounters). Well, if you are gonna update this game in the future, you can consider adding one, but great job, you should definitely expand on this concept and make a game with similar structure sometime :)

Also noticed that you've entered the 5th RPG Maker Horror Game Jam, so l'm looking forward to what you come up with. :) Hopefully the Theme I chose for that one is fine.

I hope when the day comes for the horror jam, I will have the time and inspiration to make something decent!

Hopefully :) Btw. I was looking for things I've missed and talked to Big Boss again. Previously, I gave his device to the cobra guys and told them his plan in exchange for information. When I talked to him afterwards, he gave me another device and told me to do the same thing I already refused to do. That doesn't feel right.

That sounds like a bug :D
