Never done a soccer game before, and I can't remember how actual sportsgames does it. All I know is I wanted it keyboard friendly, but still allow full 360 movement.
I'm just glad I got things back up in time for me to actually submit something, even if it's a bare-bones half-demo. Now when I got things working again, I'll continue working on the game, giving myself the "remaining" time to finish it, which I'll post after the Jam is properly over.
