A well made stealth(?) shooter with a unique aesthetic and some nice ambiance.
PROS:
- The visuals really help each element of the gameplay read properly (bullets look cool with trails, but you the actual bullet always reads, vision cones make AI interactions really obvious, audio rings around events make it apparent that's going to matter, etc.).
- The music did a lot to create a mysterious atmosphere and set the tone for a stealth action game well.
- The use of masking on the dither to create interesting backgrounds gave the levels some nice flavor.
CRITIQUES:
- I don't honestly know how the green blob areas affect gameplay. I suspect they do, but it didn't jump out at me as much as a lot of other game elements so I'm left wondering there.
- Early on I'm told that I should be more stealthy because it increases my score, but some levels require me to kill a guard to get through a door. Feels like you should either give players a non-lethal option to finish the level for the sake of that score OR have another type of scoring system where they fall on the lethal VS pacifist solutions.
- I managed to get a guard to shotgun several of the pots on a couple levels. Possibly a nice reward for being clever as a player, but felt like the game should force me to do the actual destruction and that pots should be immune to the gun fire of the AI.
