Cute small-scale puzzle platformer with clean presentation and a nice sense of context.
PROS:
- Art does a really good job of making pieces of interest (player, objectives, etc.) vibrant while subduing other elements of any given level.
- First couple of levels do a good job of tutorialization and lean nicely into the theme with the controls scribbled on the walls of the prison similar to messages left by former inmates.
- All the pieces (art, audio, game feel, etc.) feel well made individually and make a nice sum of several parts.
CRITIQUES:
- The tutorialization falls a bit flat with things like breaking the jar to get the same effect as picking up the grass. I managed to discover that one, but mostly by accident.
- I honestly didn't make it past level 4 due to my inability to figure out what I'm supposed to do with the pink switches/platforms. Possibly just me being dumb or tired at the time, but I didn't see a way to interact with those panels/switches and I had exhausted the buttons described in the instructions.
- The turtle is cute as an enemy, but a bit confusing to me since it doesn't read as a dangerous animal at all. I honestly died to it a couple times because I thought I could just handle it Mario style and ride the things if jumping on top of him didn't immediately kill them.
