The game itself is fine. But sorry to say that - the gender selection killed it for me. Game industry makes big efforts to create female role models that are differentiated and complex - as counter model how female characters were represented in earlier days in gaming industry. Also the LGBT community plays a role in gaming economy and getting more attention by growing events that support LGBT - or were organized by LGBT. Better keep this in mind.

Nowadays you should avoid making those mistakes. Making a gender differentiation based on "female is pink" is part of an oldschool sexism and is highly disrespectful. Bringing a gender differentiation in a game that does not need it (a red dragon is pretty neutral) shows that this act was intended. So it comes along like a very bad joke.

Better make a simple color selection instead (like "Having a choice of 6 uncommented colors"). You hurt no one by doing that and this can highlight your game (comparing it to Yoshis Island where you play Yoshi in 8 different colors).

I am sry to hear that, that certainly wasn't the idea. We purposly wanted to have a differenciation between two playable characters.

We went for pink and red. There were even toughts of including a choose your partners sex (so you can play f/f m/m aswell. But it would have made the menu more complicated.

This is Simply a color choice, if you got offended by that, I can not change that. But I appologize.

I did read both of your comments. I also will relate to that.

Sometimes my words are harsh. That is not a favourable part of my character. I am sorry for that.

I appreciate that you discuss this issue and think about it. And don't get me wrong. It is not about my feelings. This topic is about you. Releasing a game is equal to publish a statement. Unknown people will see that, think and judge about that. The question you have to face is - do you want to be seen this way? You are the dev. You are responsible for any statement you make - even if it is not intentional. And it is not just a simple color choice. "Play as a Female" is pretty direct.

The game itself has real potential. It is worth polishing it and release it as a mobile game. Games in these genre have a good chance to get played very much on smart phones. That is my opinion about what you did develop. But a higher user range will lead to a higher responsibility. And unhappy things might strike back.

It is just an advice. Finally it is your choice. I wish you all the best.

Kleine formale Anmerkung:

Einmal ist es "Play as a ..." -> impliziert, dass man einen bestimmten Drachentypen/-gattung spielt.

Dann "Play as ..." -> impliziert, dass es um einen Drachen namens "Firebolt" geht.

Ist keine Kritik. War mir nur aufgefallen, weils unterschiedlich ist. Wenn ihr eure Geschichte genau so erzählen wollt, dann 👍
