Very nice relation to the theme! I think the idea is really fun, but ultimately it's more about figuring out what the one trait to winning is. I might try it out again and do the hard mode and see what additional complexity there is. Overall, nice work!

Yes, the first part is meant to be a joke and to make the player familiar with the game (kind of like Randy from round 1 ;)), i.e. you put all this effort into picking Buddies and it turns out to all have been a joke/pun about 1 trait. The hard mode then requires all 3 traits and uses a weather forecast for the upcoming winter to select the buddies.
