Very nice relation to the theme! I think the idea is really fun, but ultimately it's more about figuring out what the one trait to winning is. I might try it out again and do the hard mode and see what additional complexity there is. Overall, nice work!
Thank you for playing. Yes, the first part is meant to be a joke and to make the player familiar with the game (kind of like Randy from round 1 ;)), i.e. you put all this effort into picking Buddies and it turns out to all have been a joke/pun about 1 trait. The hard mode then requires all 3 traits and uses a weather forecast for the upcoming winter to select the buddies.
Very on point with the theme. Overall I enjoyed. You probably could have started with hard mode (the extra complexity was a nice touch). Nice job!
Losing once and getting the hint was enough to help win the game. Though the first time around I made it to round 8. This fit the theme very well with a good sense of humor.
Really interesting premise and definitely spot on for theme relevance! Hard mode definitely did a lot to make the game more interesting and honestly it's intuitive enough that I feel it could've benefitted from starting off there.
This game is really well made. The mechanics were so logical I got the idea as soon as I started, and the art conveyed so much info that I didn't need to read the text under the buddies after the first couple winters. Great use of the theme, me and my brother had a similar idea originally but decided to go a different direction, so it's neat to see how this turned out. Although if I had to make a suggestion I would say the hard mode should probably be renamed to Forecast mode, because it's not really more difficult than the main one, just more engaging. Although it is a game jam game, so it's perfectly balanced as it is.

Cool idea ! Interesting use of evolution. I kind of wish I had a bit more agency over what was going on and why. I was carefully choosing the buddies at first, but would not understand why so buddies were living or not, so passed 5th round I started to click randomly and lost and I got a hint that then made it really obvious and I won quickly. Would've been nice to have something happening during the winter, understanding why the buddies died etc.

Thank you for playing. Once you figured out the first puzzle, you unlocked hard mode which gives the player more agency. There you have to use the weather forecast for the upcoming winter to select the buddies.
I ended up really liking this one a lot more than I thought I would! It took me 4 tries to beat it the first time, and then 2 tries to beat hard mode. Right now, I think it's the perfect level of complex for a jam game, but I think it has real potential to be expanded, especially the hard mode. Having combined weather forecasts where you have to think even harder about which characters to breed and getting to actually see them surviving would be really fun. I think the visuals on the characters were good, though some kind of background would be really nice. Overall really great game and a nice use of the theme. Congrats!

Very fun, very quirky. I wasnt expecting the hard mode (I couldn't beat it) and It was actually very fun. If you made some visuals for the winter actually happening, like watching the little guys do their things and die, that would be sweet. Otherwise fantastic!
